There are many management decisions an oyster farmer can make on their farm; however, it isn’t clear which ones produce the highest profits. My research focuses on tracking the success of different farm management methods used by Bonus Point Oysters, an oyster farm run by local high school students. By working alongside the students, I am monitoring how costs and profits compare among these different management techniques as well as the overall growth, survival, and quality of the oysters being grown. My study will provide regional oyster farmers with information they can use to improve their own business practices and long-term sustainability.
